What is Semaglutide?

Semaglutide is known as a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist or GLP-1 Ra. GLP-1 stimulates your pancreas to produce more insulin, lowering your blood sugar levels and decreasing your appetite. Semaglutide injection is used with diet and exercise to help lose and maintain weight loss in individuals with at least one weight-related medical condition.

This medication is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and as an anti-obesity medication for long-term weight management. It is a peptide similar to the hormone glucagon-like peptide-1, modified with a side chain.

Semaglutide is quickly becoming our most prescribed weight loss medication. If you struggle with healthy eating habits, cravings, or over eating, Semaglutide is an excellent option for clients looking to lose weight. When taken regularly, Semaglutide helps reduce hunger cravings and increases the feeling of fullness much sooner. Additionally, it helps to aid the body in utilizing sugar for energy and burning visceral fat which allows you to attain greater overall weight loss than with most other methods.  Semaglutide boasts weight loss results that are two times that of most other medications.

How Does Semaglutide Work?

GLP-1 Receptor Activation: Semaglutide binds to and restarts the GLP-1 receptors in the pancreas and other target tissues, copying the effects of the natural GLP-1 hormone.

Blood Sugar Regulation: By restarting GLP-1 receptors in the pancreas, semaglutide stimulates the release of insulin in response to high blood sugar levels. Insulin helps transport glucose into cells, lowering blood sugar levels.

Suppression of Glucagon Release: Semaglutide also reduces the release of glucagon, another pancreatic hormone. Glucagon raises blood sugar levels by encouraging the release of glucose from the liver. By preventing glucagon, semaglutide helps control blood sugar levels.

Slowing Gastric Emptying: Semaglutide also slows down the emptying of the stomach, which can help regulate the absorption of nutrients, including glucose, in the digestive system. This action contributes to a feeling of fullness and reduced appetite.

Appetite Regulation: By acting on the brain’s appetite centers, semaglutide can promote a sense of fullness and reduce food intake.

Glp-1 medications fight weight with biology

GLP-1s stand out from older classes of prescription weight loss medications like phentermine because they target essential metabolic pathways to facilitate sustainable weight loss. If you are looking for a “quick-fix” Semaglutide may not be what you are looking for!

Reduce inflammation

GLP-1s have been proven to reduce markers of inflammation. Using the GLP-1s leads to a decrease in the body’s inflammatory response and antioxidant levels are low. CRP (C-reactive protein), a general marker of inflammation, is one marker we may monitor during your Protocol.

Shift Set Point

GLP-1s help to reset your body’s weight set point. Your set point is achieved by working with specific brain regions. Which reduces cravings, enhances feelings of being full, and increases the amount of energy.

Regulate digestion

GLP-1s slow how quickly food moves from the stomach to the
intestines. This helps you feel full for longer by regulating sugar absorption in the intestine.

Improve metabolic function

GLP-1s, or glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists, play a crucial role in regulating blood sugar levels. They work by increasing the secretion of insulin and lowering the production of glucagon. This happens only when blood sugar levels are increased. This helps maintain blood sugar within a healthy range. Additionally, GLP-1s have been found to enhance whole-body energy metabolism. This is achieved by increasing the sensitivity of muscle cells to insulin and by regulating the development of fat cells.

How Does Semaglutide Work to Cause Weight Loss?

Semaglutide is intended for individuals with obesity to assist them in consuming fewer calories, leading to weight loss. When combined with the Slim180 Protocol and light exercise, taking Semaglutide can result in significant weight loss.

Since Semaglutide reduces the appetite, it’s important to ensure that your meals contain enough protein and other nutrients to maintain good health. Additionally, staying hydrated and drinking plenty of water is essential.

The key to long-term weight loss is making a lifestyle change, which involves improving your diet, increasing exercise, and adopting healthy habits. Our Nutritional Guidance Program is based on this principle. Our team works closely with clients to determine the best approach for them. This often includes a combination of medication and lifestyle changes.

How Effective Are Weight Loss Drugs?

When used for more than 12 weeks, Semaglutide can lead to major weight loss. The combination of diet, exercise, and weight loss medication can have an even greater effect than diet and exercise alone.

A patient taking Semaglutide for one year could see a weight loss of 3 to 12% more than if they were trying to lose weight with diet and exercise. While 3 to 12% may not seem like much, losing that weight can have significant health benefits.

Are There Side Effects?

As with any medication, there are side effects. Clients taking semaglutide can experience dizziness, fatigue, diarrhea, constipation, gassiness, headache, nausea, vomiting, pain, low blood sugar, less fullness in the face, vivid dreams, hair loss, or bloating. These side effects may improve over time. If they don’t, clients should consult Slim180 or your healthcare provider.

In rare cases, clients may experience pancreatitis, gallbladder issues, kidney damage, or thyroid tumors. Recently, some clients have reported stomach paralysis, which can lead to excessive vomiting and suicidal thoughts.

It’s essential to discuss your medical history, current medications, and any concerns you have with your healthcare provider before starting any medication. Regular follow-up visits with your Slim180 counselor are important to monitor your progress, adjust the program if necessary, and address any potential side effects or concerns.

What Happens if You Stop Taking Semaglutide?

Because these prescriptions are designed for long-term use, clients who use semaglutide for weight loss may gain some or all their weight back if they stop taking the medication. However, those who practice healthy lifestyle changes are more able to maintain the weight loss
